Paulette Carr is the Owner and resident Artist/instructor for Brave Art Studios & Gallery. Brave Art is her vision of sharing art with the community in many different aspects. She seeks to offer a peaceful, tranquil environment to enjoy art and learn to express your own artistic voice. Each month will feature a different Artist's work to greet you as you walk into the gallery. As we develop our artistic voice as a gallery, we seek to find the artistic collective voice of our community.

We have the honor of sharing Martha Willson's beautiful paintings with you for the month of April. Martha has chosen Sylvia's Place as the charity for April. We will donate 5% of our guest artists' and Paulette's paintings & Photography sales to this domestic abuse shelter to support their mission in our community!
We are honored to have Pat's beautiful paintings and glasswork through January here in the gallery! You do not want to miss it!!!

Have you always wanted to paint “that” picture… the one you took on vacation or on your grandparent’s farm or at the beach… It takes courage to do the new thing, to follow your dreams… to fight through the fear. Be brave enough! This class is will challenge you, teach you techniques to make your memory come alive on the canvas in your voice. You provide your photo (no magazine photos or someone else’s unless you have a release to do so; otherwise you could violate copyright laws).
Carve out this painting with palette knife and a limited color palette on an 11x14 canvas board. Using a fall palette you will learn how amazing this tool is. Using acrylic paint learn about blending, floating and mark making. All supplies are provided, no experience necessary. Bring a box to transport your wet painting home. This will take approximately 24-48 hours to completely dry.
Come out and learn to use the Ugly Brush. Learn about directional strokes, building dark into in lights, bringing depth to your piece, etc. We are using an 11x 14canvas on this version of Ugly Brush. All supplies are provided. No experience necessary. Bring a box to transport your wet painting home.

Explore this wet canvas technique making 2 8x10's using different tools on a wet canvas/ wear old clothing
Pastels: Let's start at the beginning.... Pastels are such a unique medium! In this class we will start with a discussion on substrates and will actually create some of our own to work on. Other sanded papers and other surfaces will be available to work on as well. Two types of pastels, (water soluable and soft pastels) tortillions, sponges, substrates, knives, etc. will be provided and are yours to keep. No need to go out and buy anything for this class! Come out and create 4 of these lovely ceramic ornaments using a hydrodipplin technique. You can choose your colors and make them suit whatever holiday you wish or to match your décor…. Your choice! We will hydro dip all four and finish off with a sealer. There will be a bit of drying time involved, all supplies are provided.

Come out and try this latest fad in painting, chain pull. The picture is an examples of what you can create on the 2 8x10 canvases provided. This is a messy class, so wear old clothing, we do provide a disposable apron and everything else you need, except a box to transport your wet paintings home, so save your car interior and bring a box to fit 2 8x10 canvases flat.

Silk Scarf Dyeing with Salt Lift
Come out and learn how to dye an 11"x60" silk scarf using a salt lifting technique. All supplies are provided for this class. Wear old clothing, because, you know... dye stains... :) You will dye your scarf here and take it home with the dye set to set and rinse. We will take a break an hour break each class so bring a snack or meal or go to one of the nearby restaurants.
Learn to pour these tile coasters using special Pebeo paints. This is a 3 part class.. Create 4 coasters, all supplies provided. The first class we will learn about what each paint does and do the actual pouring. Use of torch. We will have windows open during this class so be prepared for the heat (or whatever Michigan decides to throw at us!) This must be done in a well ventilated room. Create this alcohol Ink and Epoxy coated vase. This process is a two day process that requires you leave your piece overnight. Use of torch and low VOC epoxy is involved, so windows will be opened at one point in class, so dress appropriately. Speaking of dress… wear OLD clothing. Come out and create these lovely bloom coasters using alcohol ink and epoxy resin. Create 4 coasters. You can do all for the same color or all 4 different! The first class will be prepping the coasters and pouring the resin, approximately 2.5 hours (depends on your decision making on colors!). You will leave your coasters while the resin cures until the following week. The second class will be a finish up class and take approximately 1 hour to complete. All supplies provided.

Come on our and create your own personal wine glass with this lovely poppy with multi surface paints. You will finish your glass and may have some wait time for drying time. You will take your glass home and set it in the oven (directions will be provided at class). All supplies are provided.
Learn how to hydrodip these oversized light switchplate and outlet covers using solvent based paints. We will seal them with a goloos clear coat to extend wear on them.
